赤狐（學名：Vulpes vulpes）：又名紅狐、火狐，毛色因季節和地區不同而有較大變異，一般背面棕灰或棕紅色，腹部白色或黃白色，尾尖白色，耳背面黑色或黑褐色，四肢外側黑色條紋延伸至足面。雄性略大。赤狐聽覺、嗅覺發達，很狡猾，行動敏捷。喜歡單獨活動，在夜晚捕食。通常夜里出來活動，白天隱蔽在洞中睡覺，長長的尾巴有防潮、保暖的作用，但在荒僻的地方，有時白天也會出來尋找食物。它的腿腳雖然較短，爪子卻很銳利，跑得也很快，追擊獵物時速度可達每小時50多公里，而且善于游泳和爬樹。主要以旱獺及鼠類為食，也吃野禽、蛙、魚、昆蟲等，還吃各種野果和農作物。
Red Fox (Scientific Latin Name: Vulpes vulpes) is also named firefox. Their coat colors vary greatly depending on season and region. Generally,their backs are brown gray or brown red, and they have white or yellow whiteabdomens,and white tail tips, with the backs of their ears black or black brown. The black stripes on the outside parts of their limbs extend to the foot instep. Males are slightly larger. Red Foxes have a well-developed sense of hearing and smell, and they are cunning and quick in action. They like to be alone and usually come out to hunt at night and go to sleep in a hole during the day.Their long tails keep them warm and away from moisture. In the wilderness, however, they sometimes come out during the day to look for food. While their legs and feet are short, their claws are sharp. They can run fast, reaching speeds of more than 50 kilometers per hour when chasing prey. They are also good at swimming and climbing trees. They mainly consume marmots, mice, wild birds, frogs, fish, insects, etc., as well as a variety of wild fruits and crops.
