虎紋蛙(學名:Hoplobatrachus rugulosus)是叉舌蛙科、虎紋蛙屬于兩棲。雄蛙體長66-98毫米,雌蛙體長87-121毫米,體重可達250克左右。頭長大于頭寬,吻端鈍尖;下頜前緣有兩個齒狀骨突;瞳孔橫橢圓形,眼間距小于上眼瞼寬,鼓膜約為眼徑的3/4。虎紋蛙常生活于海拔900米以下稻田、溝渠、池塘、水庫、沼澤地等有水的地方,其棲息地隨覓食、繁殖、越冬等不同生活時期而改變。虎紋蛙是肉食性動物,在自然界中以捕食蝗蟲、蝶蛾、蜻蜓、甲蟲等昆蟲為主,虎紋蛙蝌蚪則靠攝食水中的原生動物、藻類及有機碎屑等天然餌料為食。
Hoplobatrachus rugulosus is an amphibian frog in the family Formohylidae.The male frog is 66-98 mm long and the female frog is 87-121 mm long, and the body weight can reach about 250 grams. The head is longer than the width, the snout is blunt. There are two dentoid bones at the jaw front. The pupils are transverse oval, the eye spacing is less than the width of the upper eyelid, and the tympanic membrane is about 3/4 of the diameter of the eye. It often lives in paddy fields, ditches, ponds, reservoirs, swamps and other places with water below 900 meters above sea level. Its habitat changes with different life periods such as the foraging period, breeding period and overwintering period. It is a carnivorous animal and mainly preys on insects such as locusts, butterfly moths, dragonflies and beetles in nature. The tadpoles feed on natural prey such as protozoa, algae and organic debris in the water.
