Luxuriant and Powerful Tree - Pinus Massoniana
馬尾松（學名：Pinus massoniana Lamb.）是松科，屬喬木，高可達45米，胸徑1.5米；樹皮紅褐色，枝平展或斜展，樹冠寬塔形或傘形，枝條每年生長一輪（廣東兩輪）。冬芽卵狀圓柱形或圓柱形，針葉，細柔，微扭曲，兩面有氣孔線，邊緣有細鋸齒，葉鞘宿存。雄球花淡紅褐色，圓柱形，聚生于新枝下部苞腋，穗狀，雌球聚生于新枝近頂端，淡紫紅色，種子長卵圓形，4-5月開花，球果第二年10-12月成熟。馬尾松木材極耐水濕，有“水中千年松”之說，特別適用于水下工程。也是中國主要產(chǎn)脂樹種，松香是許多輕、重工業(yè)的重要原料，主要用于造紙、橡膠、涂料、油漆、膠粘等工業(yè)。
Pinus Massoniana (Scientific Latin Name: Pinus massoniana Lamb.) is a tree in the family Pinaceae. It can reach 45 m in height and 1.5 m in diameter at breast height; reddish-brown bark, flat or slanted branches growing once a year (twice in Guangdong), and wide crowns like a tower or umbrella. Buds in winter are ovoid cylindrical or cylindrical, soft needle-like leaves are slightly twisted with stomatal lines on both sides and jagged edges. When the sheath withers, the calyx doesn’t fall off but continues to develop along with the fruit. Pale reddish-brown male bulbs are cylindricalspikelets, clustered in the bract axils of the lower parts of young branches, while lavender red female bulbs are clusterednear the top of young branches. The seeds are oval in shape, flowering in April - May and ripening in October - December the following year. The wood is extremely resistant to water and humidity, which is said to be "pine in the water for thousands of years", especially suitable for underwater engineering.It is also the main resin-producing tree species in China. Rosin is an important raw material for many light and heavy industries, mainly used in papermaking, rubber, coating, paint, adhesive and other industries.
